This is further proof that most people just don't understand the Internet. After weeks of Morbius memes, Sony saw an opportunity to capitalize on their film's popularity and thought re-releasing the film would spur new fans to see it in theaters. The only problem is people weren't laughing with Morbius but at it.

Last week Leto himself got into the game when he posted the below video to his Twitter page. The short skit features him sitting on a couch reading a script which is titled, "Morbius 2: It's Morbin' Time." And two days later Sony put the film back into theaters, hoping people would finally get around to seeing the films.

The only problem is they didn't. And again Morbius bombed. Which feels like the ultimate punchline of the Morbius meme's lifespan. Who would have known that memes could cause so much real-world drama? And what moron over at Sony didn't know that the jokes were in kind and that people actually disliked the movie?

Well, we're thankful no one in either Leto's camp or around the big boy table at Sony was in the know because seeing Morbius bomb again was an early Christmas gift for the anti-superhero movies trolls online.
